Casero Kitchen Table
First up we have Casero Kitchen Table. If you’re in the mood for some delicious guacomole and chips and traditional tacos, Casero has you completely covered. Not only do they have unique tacos flavours to choose from, the restaurant is full of both cozy and funky vibes.
We highly recommend making reservations because we had to re-schedule our outing to try Casero because they were all booked. The next time we scheduled it, we planned a few days ahead to guarantee a table. You can sit at the bar or opt for a table. As you can see they also have a patio to enjoy in the summer.
We loved the variety of unique tacos available. I went with sweet potato, cauliflower, and chargrilled chicken taco. Each of them were absolutely delicious and you can read more about what was included with each taco by checking out the menu below.
Below you can see the three tacos I chose. YUM! After filling up on guac and chips for an appetizer, I couldn’t finish all three tacos so ended up sharing with my husband (bonus for him).

Minh’s Owen Sound Vietnamese Restaurant
What a treat it is to have Minh’s Vietnamese restaurant in Owen Sound. After success at their first location in Collingwood, they opened a second location here in Owen Sound. We’re pretty excited about this new addition to the Owen Sound restaurant scene.
You can order online but we highly recommend you dine in. It’s one of the only restaurants in Owen Sound that overlooks the water. The interior is nicely decorated and their staff is great. We even met the owner, Minh, himself and he was awesome. It was great to support this great local Owen Sound thai food restaurant.
They have two separate eating sections. The one pictured below is on the main floor when you walk in and would be perfect for large groups. Then after a few steps down, they have another room which is where we ate. That room overlooks the water and is one of the trendiest thai restaurants I’ve ever been to when it comes to decor.
As much as I try to expand my thai food horizons, I seem to always order the same thing. I bet you’ve guessed it already….yup, Pad Thai. Probably the most popular option on any thai food menu but for good reason. Minh’s pad thai did not disappoint, it was awesome. I even had enough to take it home and eat for lunch the next day.
My friend and Owen Sound local expert got a little more creative with her order. She ordered Vermicelli and an egg roll and shrimp ball which you can see below.

Mudtown Station Brewery & Restaurant
Another favourite Owen Sound restaurant of ours is Mudtown Station. There are a few reasons Mudtown Station made it on our list of top restaurants in Owen Sound. Not only do they brew their beers in their own brewery which you can see right behind the bar, their food is all made in house using mainly local ingredients.
This family-owned restaurant is really unique because they transformed an Ontario heritage building and former location of a Canadian Pacific Railway train station into an entirely new space for the pub and restaurant. It’s a great space that preserves its history but tailors to the needs of the community now. We love sitting on the bar side which has more of a chill pub feel which we like. If that’s what you’re looking for, make sure you ask the host to sit on this side.
If you’re a beer lover, it’s always great to try out a new brewery and Mudtown Station had some great beers to choose from. As you can see, I couldn’t help buy enjoy a few sips before I remembered to snap a pic!
Probably one of my most random orders but I had a craving for, of all things…brussel sprouts. This giant bowl of delicious brussel sprouts is intended to be an appetizer shared between a group but I sat there happily eating every last sprout. Apparently I even inspired a table of three to order the same thing because they asked me how they were. We all had a good laugh at how they were going to share the bowl, but not me! Next time I’m excited to try their burger.

Parkwood Owen Sound Restaurant
Parkwood By Heartwood is a new restaurant in the heart of Owen Sound’s downtown core. This restaurant is in the same building as the Owen Sound staple, Heartwood Concert Hall. The first time we tried to go, we couldn’t get a table and were too late to make a reservation! We highly recommend making reservations a few days before, especially if you plan to go on a Friday or Saturday night.
I ordered a veggie pizza and my husband ordered a burger. Both were absolutely delicious! I think this might be my new favourite spot for pizza. The vibe inside Parkwood is really great and you can see over into the kitchen. It’s all very open and has a trendy, industrial feel.

Shanny’s Kitchen
I first heard about Shanny’s Kitchen from my aunt who was absolutely raving about the food. It’s the newest addition to the Owen Sound restaurant scene and is run by chef Shannon MacDougall. Their menu contains items like Pan Seared East Coast Scallops, striploin steak, and warm turkey and goat cheese on brioch.
