Hotel Mac Review
Hotel Mac in Benalmádena Spain is a resort that I have stayed a few times now. This is where lots of our wedding guests stayed after our wedding as well. I’m going to share the pros and cons of this resort in this honest Hotel Mac review.
Hotel Mac is perfect if you’re looking for more of a resort feel and would like the option to have some of your meals included. Depending on how long you’re staying, having your meals included can be nice if you don’t want to have to think about finding a restaurant and deciding where to go. Adding both breakfast and dinner to our stay only cost 12 euros/person (price may have changed since then) which is very reasonable. It was nice to eat lunch somewhere else or skip it entirely if you’ve had a big breakfast. Some people like having meals included, others might not love it. They do switch up the menu every night and there are lots of options to choose from. I enjoy this for 3-4 days for a break from having to think about meals. It completely depends on what you prefer. If you like trying new restaurants, then this likely isn’t a great option for you.
If you visit in the warmer months, I recommend sitting at the tables outside in their beautiful plaza. You might need to request to sit out there at the start of your stay because you are assigned a table for the duration of your stay.
Hotel Mac definitely has more of a hotel vibe than an apartment feel like Sahara Sunset has. The rooms are a typical hotel room with beds and a small table and chairs. There is a patio as well. Again, depending on how long you’re staying this might be completely ok with you. If you’re staying for a long period of time, you might prefer more space.
One of the best parts about Hotel Mac are the amenities. They have a spa that you can book appointments at but they also have a section that you can use completely free of charge. It has an indoor pool area with different spa stations with jets and waterfalls that you can move through. There’s also a sauna and lounge chairs in the same area. It’s quite a relaxing place with dim lighting. We used this after our wedding and it was exactly what we needed to relax and rejuvenate.
There is also a large outdoor pool if you’re visiting in the warmer months and a huge section with lots of lounge chairs. If the sun is out, you’ll find this section full of people relaxing.
Another great thing about Hotel Mac is the entertainment. Most nights of the week they have some kind of entertainment like flamenco dancers, musicians, or singers. In the warmer months, they host these shows outside in the plaza (which is the best). If it’s colder out, they’ll have these in the indoor bar area.
One of the best parts of Hotel Mac in Benalmádena, Spain is its location. It’s located right next to the Puerto Marina which is full of restaurants, shops, bars & clubs. It’s also really close to the beach and the promenade which is a great spot for a long walk, people watching, finding a new restaurant, or heading to the beach.
I couldn’t finish this Hotel Mac review without mentioning the one thing that elevated my stay the four times I’ve been there…BILLY! If you’re lucky enough to get assigned to Billy’s section in the dining room, you’re in for a treat. We’ve gotten to know Billy over the years and he truly is a gem. You can tell he really enjoys his job and wants to provide the best experience for the hotel guests. His fun demeanour and devotion to providing exceptional service is inspiring. He’s a huge part of the reason my parents have booked repeat stays at Hotel Mac.
All in all, Hotel Mac has some great features but it truly depends on what you’re looking for in a hotel in Benalmádena, Spain.
