There are some really incredible alpaca farms in Ontario to visit. So if you’re looking for a fun thing to do with family and friends, especially kids, I highly recommend heading to an alpaca farm. After visiting a few Ontario alpaca farms myself, I’ve realized how unique, cute and different alpacas are. They have an incredible ability to show their personality and have the softest fur. It’s truly incredible and looks a lot different than it feels. Trust me. In this guide I’m going to go share 15 alpaca farms in Ontario so you can find one that’s closest to you! I separate them into Southern and Northern sections to help make it easy for you to find one.
Southern Ontario Alpaca Farms
Kickin’ Back Alpaca Ranch
First up is Kickin’ Back Alpaca Ranch, located just outside of Markdale Ontario (my hometown and where I grew up!). This alpaca farm officially started in 2009 and owners Doug and Carolyn have been immersed in the alpaca world ever since. It’s very obvious when you meet them and see how they interact with the alpacas that they truly love what they do.
They offer farm and alpaca tours which you can book ahead of time. We loved visiting the alpacas with my nieces and a few family members. Regardless of age, we all truly enjoyed this experience.
As part of this Ontario alpaca farm tour, we got to feed the alpacas, learn more about alpacas in general and interact with them. Carolyn knows so much about alpacas and the intricacies of their personalities. They really are incredible animals.
The alpacas made us laugh, and some even let us cuddle them for extended periods of time. My favourite part was seeing how the cats interacted with the alpacas and rubbed up against them. As a cat lover, it was the cutest thing ever.
After the tour and visiting with the alpacas, you can head to the house where they have a full room set aside for alpaca products made from alpaca wool. It’s a great spot to grab a gift and support a local business. My husband picked up alpaca wool inserts for his boots, my nieces both got really great headbands for the winter and my Dad grabbed a pair of alpaca socks.

SAMY’s Alpaca Farm In Ontario
Another great alpaca farm in Ontario is SAMY’s Alpaca Farm. They have some really unique ways that you can spend time with their adorable alpacas (they have around 40 alpacas at their farm!). You can tour their alpaca farm and learn about alpacas and take an alpaca on a walk (alpacas are on leashes).
Every Sunday this Ontario alpaca farm opens their alpaca fields to guests to enjoy a picnic among the alpacas. It’s such a fun Sunday afternoon activity and great way to enjoy nature and the alpaca visits. You just need to pack your own picnic, book your tickets and enjoy!
If you’re looking to escape the city and spend some time in nature and more time with alpacas, they have the option to rent the bunkie that sits right next to the alpaca fields. This option also includes an alpaca walk and you can feed the alpacas. It’s a really cool way to embrace the alpaca farm life. The bunkie sleeps 4 people but you’re welcome to add a tent for 2 more people.

Davidson Estate Alpacas
Davidson Estate Alpacas offers alpaca farm tours and alpaca walking tours. It’s so much fun to actually walk the alpacas! They also have a gift shop with alpaca wool yarn and other products made with alpaca wool.

Northern Ontario Alpaca Farms
Old School Alpaca Farm
Old School Alpacas is an alpaca farm in Northern Ontario. This farm is located just off of highway 17 outside of Thunder Bay towards Nipigon, ON. It’s a great place to visit if you’re looking for things to do around Thunder Bay.
This Northern Ontario alpaca farm is a little less structured and doesn’t offer official alpaca tours but you can simply stop in and see the alpacas. This works perfect for an impromptu alpaca visit.
The alpacas are behind a fence but they’ll most likely come up to you. The owner will come out to greet you and show you some of the alpacas, but you’re not interacting with them in the same way you might at other farms by feeding them or getting as much of a structured tour but it’s really nice to just stop in and see the alpacas. There is a donation box to show your support. They also have a little gift shop with some alpaca products, yarn and other craft supplies. I grabbed a pair of alpaca socks for my Mother-In-Law and a wooden yarn basket bottom that was made by the owners son.

Meadowview Alpaca Farm
Meadowview Alpaca Farm is a large alpaca farm in Northern Ontario. They have almost 100 alpacas to enjoy on their farm. You can book a farm tour and feed the alpacas and learn more about alpacas at their farm. Like many of the other alpaca farms in Ontario, they also have a shop where you can purchase products made with alpaca wool.
