Restaurants In Markdale, ON

Marilynne’s Restaurant Markdale

Marilynne’s opened in 2021 and is a great new addition to the line up of Markdale restaurants. They offer a completely different vibe with their farm-to-table concept and their unique antique and vintage decor. This restaurant is located in the old fire hall so if you’re driving through town, you can’t miss it. They also serve coffee and tea in authentic dainty tea cups which is such a nice touch.

When it comes to the food, their burgers and fries with aioli is one of my personal favourites. It truly feels gourmet and is such a delicious meal. I also love the fried chicken sandwich.

If you visit Marilynne’s on the weekend, I highly recommend their breakfast sandwich, home fries and salad for brunch (see picture below). It’s truly one of the best breakfast sandwiches I’ve ever had. I think it’s the mustard aioli that makes it delicious and unique.

Steven’s Restaurant Markdale

Steven’s Restaurant has been a staple in Markdale for years. It’s definitely a favourite among locals. They serve classic pub-style meals like burgers and fries, chicken caesar wraps, and caesar salad. They also have an entirely separate menu for more unique and fancy entrees. Some of these include bacon wrapped filet mignon and pecan crusted rainbow trout.

Their newly renovated interior is gorgeous and the decor is modern and trendy. There are a few TVs over the bar if there happens to be an important game on. The TVs aren’t overbearing though so you can still enjoy a nice meal celebrating birthdays, anniversaries or other occasions.

Their online ordering system is really easy to use. You can order, pay online and then they text you when your order is ready for pick up. You pick up your order through the right hand door on the Champs Burger side of the restaurant. It’s a really quick and easy way to grab your take-out.

Big Cheese Pizza

Even though Big Cheese Pizza isn’t technically a restaurant where you can dine in, it wouldn’t be a Markdale restaurant’s guide without including them. Big Cheese Pizza has been another staple in Markdale for years. Although it’s changed ownership a few times, the pizza has remained delicious. Their pizza is stone baked, uses a secret sauce and just the right amount of cheese without being too much. Stop in for a slice or order online and enjoy their pizza at home. Our go-to order is the deluxe with thin crust.

Susan’s is another popular spot in Markdale to stop in for lunch, coffee and scone or a sandwich to go. They have a few spots to sit in, or if you’re visiting in the summer, you can sit on one of their tables out front.

It’s a great spot with an awesome collection of bakery items, sandwiches, empanadas, lattes and more. Take it from me, order the cinnamon bun! I also love their chocolate chip cookies – “Markdale’s Biggest Cookie”.

Kim’s Place

Although Kim’s Place is now located in Flesherton, about 10 minutes from Markdale, I still wanted to include them in this guide. If you’re looking for a traditional breakfast served all day, Kim’s is your place – see what I did there 😉 I love having a place to go for a big brunch and as you can see the portions are big. And yes, I finished every last piece of my omelette and home fries.

They have a lovely outdoor patio with everything that makes a patio awesome – string lights, lots of seating, beautiful sunflowers and garden flowers, umbrellas, and just an overall good vibe.

Now let’s talk about the food. One word – INCREDIBLE. If you appreciate farm-to-table quality with reasonable prices, this is a must-try restaurant. Their menu changes depending on when you visit but I have no doubt the quality will be consistent.

I ordered the vegan burger with fries - SO GOOD. It even came with house-made ketchup!

The service was great and even as we were walking out past the kitchen windows the chef yelled a big “thanks for coming!”. All in all, a wonderful experience.

These are my top picks when it comes to my hometown of Markdale restaurants. It’s been great to see different restaurants added to this list over the years. I’ll keep you updated if any new ones come to town.
