It doesn’t take long when you land in Dublin and start exploring to realize that coffee culture is alive and well. There’s a trendy coffee shop on just about every corner. I’m going to share the best coffee shops in Dublin, Ireland that we tried and love. These were recommended to us by our local Dublin tour guide, Uber driver from the airport, and one’s we found along the way. Enjoy!

Proper Order Coffee Co.
To start this guide to local Dublin coffee shops is Proper Order Coffee Co. It’s an obvious choice among locals and located in the popular Smithfield plaza. It’s a fairly large space with modern decor, lots of light, and plenty of space to stand and drink your coffee. They also have unique tiered seating with a few tables and one long table to sit at so you can easily sit and read a book or get some work done. We both enjoyed our coffees and the vibe here.

Keoghs Café
Keoghs Café was recommended to us by our Uber driver and self-proclaimed coffee connoisseur. They have a walk up window where you can order your coffee to-go and grab a muffin or other baked good. They also have a sit in cafe around the corner. We picked up coffees at the walk-up window before our Book Of Kells tour and stopped in after to the café for another coffee and snack. If you’re lucky, you’ll visit on a sunny day and get to sit outside. There’s lots of seating inside but taking in the Dublin vibes on their patio is ideal.

Copper & Straw
Next up in this guide to the best coffee shops in Dublin Ireland is Copper & Straw. This cafe features a modern and industrial interior. The old brick wall behind the counter and the plants hanging from the ceiling give it a unique vibe. The friendly staff and yummy treats are a bonus to the delicious coffee or matcha.
They have two locations in Dublin.

I rarely order matcha but I was in the mood for something a little different and was pleasantly surprised. The neat latte art was a nice touch.

The location on 14-18 Aston Quay, Temple Bar, Dublin 2 has similar decor and a modern industrial feel (picture below) as the location on 1 Arran Quay Smithfield but it also has a great high top bar table window seat to sit at. This is perfect for enjoying a coffee and people watching on the busy street outside.

Here’s a picture of some of the artwork in Copper + Straw. It gives you a feel for the vibe of this cafe. Highly recommend Copper + Straw.

Kaph
Kaph is definitely at the top of my list for best coffee shops in Dublin, Ireland. If you look in the door and it seems too busy, make sure you check out their second floor for more seats. We were greeted with an especially friendly barista which started our experience off on the right foot. The great coffee and delicious raspberry muffin made it even better. The location of this cafe is perfect for enjoying an afternoon shopping near the popular George’s Street Arcade.

As I mentioned, upstairs you’ll find more tables to sit at in a cozy room with awesome hardwood floors and lots of light. I noticed a sign saying that there are no laptops allowed on the weekends because it can get so busy. Even though I love working in coffee shops, I appreciated this and the reminder to simply sit and enjoy a coffee.

Rosie’s Café
Rosie’s Café is a really cute coffee shop in Dublin’s Wood Quay neighbourhood right near Temple Bar. The feminine decor with green accents throughout the space makes for an enjoyable spot for breakfast or lunch and even an instagrammable Dublin coffee shop moment.

I was thrilled that along with typical menu items, coffee and baked goods (the cinnamon bun is delicious!), they also served healthy smoothies.

After eating pub food and indulging in baked goods during my holiday, a smoothie was a welcomed choice. The mixed berry smoothie is delicious.
Third Space
Another great coffee shop stop in Dublin’s Smithfield neighbourhood is Third Space. This cafe has lots of seating inside and they even have a covered patio area. Inside you’ll find lots of tables to sit at, high ceilings and the cozy vibes brought to you by bookshelves full of books to peruse. The coffee is great and they also have food available.

Books Upstairs
Books Upstairs is definitely my favourite Dublin coffee shop that I went to.

From the unique bookstore / café combo, to the pale pink walls, high ceilings, a gorgeous feature window which you can sit in, the fireplaces, and so much more – it’s the perfect place to take a break from the rain, sit and read a book from the bookstore downstairs, or simply watch Dublin life go by.

Books Upstairs is a true gem and a coffee shop I highly recommend visiting in Dublin.

These are some of the best coffee shops in Dublin, Ireland. I’ll continue to update this list as I discover more. There are lots to check out but these will help get you started and excited about your trip to Ireland.
